This summer, I was not planning to advance my IT skills in any way. That doesn't mean they won't improve, I juts won't be going out of my way to do so. This is partly because I am taking a course of Chemistry 12 during the summer which will take up a lot of my free time. Another reason is that I do not plan on going into a career in IT. This course was pretty much a filler for me. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it, I'm just in this course for a bit of enjoyment.

It is hard for me to decide whether I prefer the techy side of computers or the digital art side. There are things I like from each, and also things I dislike. On the techy side, I really enjoy building computers an seeing how they work. Last year instead of a buying a pre-built computer, I bought the parts instead and built it myself which save me quite a bit of money. It took me about 6 hours to finally get it to work, but it felt like only an hour. On the digital side of things I really enjoy editing videos and manipulating pictures in photoshop. I wish that I could have taken both IT 11 and DM 11 this year, I just didn't have enough room in my timetable.
I find digital literacy to be very important, especially now. It is becoming increasingly more important as new technology is being released. There are so many jobs that require the use of a computer, it is also very useful to know how to use a computer to receive a better education. I think that I am very digitally literate. I have a ton of experience in using phones and computers, which if you know how to use, you can easily figure out how to use anything else. I also find myself to be a fast learner because I can figure out how to use new technology fairly quickly.
my favourite TV shows My favourite TV show right now is The Blacklist. I've binge watched the first 3 seasons on Netflix in the last few weeks and I'm now caught up halfway through season 4, watching week by week. It is the only show that, in my experience, has gotten better and better as the show progressed. The story line has changed drastically for the better, making it more entertaining to watch. The basic premise is that there is a mastermind criminal who turns himself into the FBI and says that he wishes to work him them, but he will only talk to a rookie FBI profiler. He gives her names of criminals which are on his "blacklist" that the FBI didn't even know existed. Another series that I've recently watched is The Black Mirror, which is also on Netflix. It is a series, but its episodes are not related to each other in any way. It is a lot like The Twilight Zone in that each episode explores a different reality if a certain event happened or didn't happen. For example, there is an episode where someone invented a device that could bring people back from the dead. A lot of them are really interesting.
My favourite animated movie is the first Cars movie. Cars is an innovative movie which, at its time was one of the best animated movie out there. The story follows our hero, Lightning McQueen who is racing in the Piston Cup. The race ends in a three-way tie, and it set to be resumed a week later at a different track. McQueen's driver hits a bump and McQueen ends up in a small town named Radiator Springs and ends up destroying the road. The people living in the town won't let him leave to go to the race until he fixes the road. At the race, one of the other cars hits the other and spins out, just short of the finish line, instead of winning the race, McQueen stops and pushes the other car over the finish line, forfeiting the win. Cars is my favourite movie because it taught me to not be selfish, and that you need to think about other people before yourself.
Shrek is one of my favourite movies, but I never stopped to think about how it was animated. There were some problems that the animators ran into, for example, there were some big characters ie. Shrek and some small characters ie. Donkey. So they found it difficult to find the right camera angle to fit them both on screen. The animators put a ton of detail into making sure the environment looked realistic. They made sure that tree branches would sway in the wind, the grass would crunch under someone's foot if they stepped on it, and the dust would also roll in the wind. I find it interesting that the animators have chosen not to release to the public which animation software they used. It was kind of disappointing to find out because I was interested in how they did it.
This spring break, I didn't do very much for the first week. I spent a lot of time at home relaxing, and working on my chemistry project that was assigned. I was trying to enjoy being off of school as much as I could, while still doing homework, it was tough. During the second week of my spring break, I finally got to relax. My family and I decided to spend a week in a resort in Mexico. It was all inclusive, so I ate a lot of food and I drank a lot of Pepsi. I also managed to read through 3 books while laying in the shade on the beach. I've been to Mexico a few times before, and I always have a ton of fun there. I hope I get to go back there next year.
